Monday 9th August Seminar on Implementation of Convention 169 in Chile and preparation of alternative reports.
The International Day of Indigenous Peoples, the seminar will be held with the special participation of renowned lawyer Bartolomé Clavero, on an official visit to Chile in its capacity as Vice Nations Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues.

SEMINAR AND REPORT ALTERNATIVE TO THE ILO
concide The meeting with the International Day of Indigenous Peoples and is part of the activities of developing an alternative Collective Report to be presented to the International Labour Organization ILO, at the first examination to Chile.
The event is open and involve indigenous leaders, lawyers, members of NGOs and academics, to address issues relating to the challenges of the implementation of Convention 169 in Chile and the situation current rights of indigenous peoples.
AGENDA OF THE SEMINAR 9 AUGUST 2010
Topics covered in the seminar discussed the standards of Convention 169 in relation to:
- ancestral land rights and land policy
- The rights of indigenous people in the city and labor rights.
- Education and Language Rights
- Statute of autonomy, territory and rights of Rapa Nui.
- Fundamental rights, penal policy and situation of the Mapuche political prisoners;
- Prior consultation with administrative and investment projects in indigenous territories
- Jurisprudence and Pepiukelen landmark community. Requirement for prior consultation. The challenge to reaffirm the case.
The conclusions of the seminar are history to incorporate the collective alternative report to submit to the ILO, and will also be reported to the United Nations Permanent Forum by the Deputy Chairman.
